Tobacco Prevention Detail
The Tobacco Prevention Program is offering small grants of up to $4,000 to support agencies in purchasing new and permanent signage that supports tobacco-free environments at behavioral health treatment centers. Funding is first-come, first-serve for eligible applicants. No more grants will be available once the funding is gone. Funds must be spent and billed to the county by March 1st, 2013.he tobacco industry spends $137 million per year to reach into every community in Oregon to promote and sell its products. In Oregon children and adults are bombarded with messages pushing them to smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco. As well, Portland is being used as a test market for marketing smokeless tobacco products and other forms of tobacco, such as hookahs.
Oregon's Tobacco Prevention and Education Program funds local tobacco control programs to engage Oregonians in their homes, workplaces, schools, and other public places. These programs are found at county health departments, tribes, schools, and community-based organizations throughout Oregon.
