Hard-hitting anti-smoking ad campaigns raise awareness about the serious toll that tobacco use takes on one’s health and the many lives it affects. In the United States, tobacco use is responsible for more than 400,000 deaths each year. For every person who dies from tobacco use, 20 suffer with at least one smoking-related illness. The toll of tobacco goes beyond the lives it takes. It impacts the smoker’s loved ones, including the more than 40,000 children in the U.S. who lose a parent to smoking each year.
Furthermore, smoking affects the numerous non-smokers exposed to hundreds of toxic chemicals in secondhand smoke. Each year, secondhand smoke exposure is responsible for close to 50,000 tobacco-related deaths in the U.S and more than 300,000 children suffer from infections caused by tobacco smoke including bronchitis, pneumonia, and ear infections.

Tobacco Water Pipes

Tobacco Water Pipes Detail
While cigarette smoking has been steadily—but slowly—declining in the United States, many different alternative tobacco and nicotine (an addictive chemical) delivery products have been gaining popularity. This is, in part, because many alternative tobacco products—which come in various sizes, flavors, and forms—are marketed, and often perceived, as being relatively safe.
However, alternative tobacco products, such as waterpipes, smokeless tobacco, and e-cigarettes, can cause serious potential health problems, including cancer, because of the chemicals and toxins they contain.
Waterpipes
One of the most popular new alternative tobacco products in the United States is the waterpipe. Waterpipes, also called hookahs, among other names, have been smoked in regions such as the Middle East, Asia, and Africa for more than four centuries.
Modern-day waterpipes, which are relatively inexpensive, are composed of four main parts.
